About me

Let me start by introducing myself. I’m Kalinka, a hobby artist (since 2015) and hobby photographer (since 2019) from the Netherlands.
I’m self taught in about every hobby I have, although recently I’ve been following a few short online courses in drawing with pastels because I got stuck in trying to master that medium on my own. Funny to realize that I learned some stuff using the pastels, that gave me some new ideas on how to improve my work with my graphite pencils. My ultimate goal is to be asked to draw or paint album covers for music artists.

In art I mainly do portraits, but I don’t shy away from drawing animals or things you find in nature. Even got into drawing or painting objects, just so I could practice new mediums to work with.
As a photographer, I mainly take pictures of animals (birds on top of the list). But in this case, it’s the other way around: I don’t shy away from portrait photo’s and photo’s of beautiful places in nature.

This website is dedicated to both my artwork, and my photographs. Because no matter whether it’s drawings or photo’s, it’s all about the memories I create.

Commissioned work?

Occasionally somebody asks me if I do commission. The answer to that question is ‘YES, I do’. In the early years of my art adventure, I used to draw for free, asking nothing more than a ‘Pay it forward’ from the people I created artwork for. Nowadays I do ask for a small fee for my artwork, just to cover my expenses like materials and shipping and a small fee on top of that, which I forward to the charity you pick out of the charities below. That way when you order one of my pieces of art, you’re still paying it forward. I’ve listed a few charities to pick from. Below you can read more about these charities to help you pick a favorite. When you place an order, please let me know what charity you wish to support with your purchase.

The Scars Foundation

Founded by Godsmack's Sully Erna (2019), The Scars Foundation works tirelessly to help bring a change to the perspective relating to mental health, and the many issues that cause such profound pain. The focus is not on one single issue, but to serve the broad spectrum of mental health and awareness of the struggle, faced by millions of people in the world today.

Sully: “Scars come in all forms. They are both physical and emotional. They’re traumatizing and make us fear what people may think of us. We are ALL imperfect in some way, that’s what makes us perfect and unique! EVERYONE has something that makes them insecure or embarrassed. Instead of hiding or internalizing them, own them and show them off to the world! Let them empower you so you can be a voice for everyone who can’t be. If we ALL wear our scars loudly and proudly, others will follow.

KiKa - Children Cancer-free

Every child cancer-free. That is our vision. We believe this is possible by funding research into childhood cancer. We focus exclusively on childhood cancer research because we know that children need different treatments than adults.

Our goal is that no child should have to die from this terrible disease. KiKa works daily to raise as much money as possible for research that contributes to better treatments and quality of care, less pain during treatments, more chances of recovery, and a higher quality of life for patients, even after treatment

Parkinson Fonds Foundation

A solution for Parkinson's disease. That is the ultimate goal of the ParkinsonFonds Foundation. That is why we finance important research by leading doctors and scientists. In addition, we want to provide information about Parkinson's disease and its consequences, among other things, through our newsletters, information on this website, mailings, and brochures.

Together we strive to discover the cause of Parkinson's disease through thorough research. Despite the significant progress already made, we are aware that there is still a long way to go. Research into Parkinson's is costly and time-consuming, but given the increasing prevalence of this disease, it is more necessary than ever. With joint efforts and dedication, we continue to commit ourselves to our mission, for now and in the future.

World Wide Fund (for Nature)

WWF once started as a protector of animals like the panda. Meanwhile, our challenge has become much bigger. Extreme heat, droughts, and floods. Loss of nature and climate change affect all life on Earth today. Not least ourselves. To stop this, you are mainly told what you need to do less of. Consume less. Emit less CO2. That is one side. The other side is not about less, but about more. More nature is needed, today.

Because more, and more diverse nature has a powerful domino effect. More bees means more flowers. More flowers, more birds. More birds, more forests. More forests, more oxygen. And less CO2. Everything is connected.
That is why WWF is on a mission: we are going to make our world 'Nature Positive.' From nature loss to nature gain, as quickly as possible. This way, the Earth remains livable for everyone. It is possible, if we choose it together..
